COVID- 19 Protocols (Sept 2021)
Christ Lutheran School COVID-19 Protocols
Parents should monitor students for signs of illness before bringing them to school in the morning. Students who show signs of COVID-19 should not come to school and should:
- Seek advice from personal medical provider whether to take a COVID-19 test.
- Follow the medical provider’s suggestions which may include:
- Staying home until receiving a negative test response OR
- Staying home and isolating using CDC Guidelines.
If a student is kept home for the day because of an illness with non-COVID-19 related symptoms, we ask that you communicate with the office regarding the nature of the illness. We will work with you to determine if a COVID-19 test or a note from a physician is necessary for the child to return to school. We understand that this may be an inconvenience but we thank you in advance for working with us to make sure that all of the students and staff are kept safe.
If a student is ill and the medical professional says they do not need a COVID test, then the student is able to return to school if at least twenty-four hours have passed since fever resolution without fever-reducing medications and other symptoms have improved.
All students must wear their masks while indoors. Students should have at least one extra in case one becomes soiled. Masks should be washed daily.
Masks will be removed for eating at recess and lunch. Whether students wear their masks outdoors after eating will be at the discretion of their parents. PE classes will be outdoors and masks will not need to be worn.
Asymptomatic persons who are fully vaccinated AND have an exposure are recommended to test but are not required to quarantine. Asymptomatic persons who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 within the last ninety days AND have an exposure are not required to quarantine or test for COVID-19.
If a child reports COVID-19 symptoms, they will be removed from the classroom and sent to the isolation area where they will be supervised by a staff member until a parent/guardian can come and pick them up. Please take the child to a medical professional and follow their advice on next steps.
Persons with COVID-19, who have symptoms, may discontinue isolation if at least ten days have passed since symptom onset and at least twenty-four hours have passed since fever resolution without fever-reducing medications and other symptoms have improved.
Close contact is considered being within six feet of the infected person for fifteen minutes or more over a twenty-four-hour period AND/OR unmasked exposure.
Unvaccinated students who have been in close contact with an infected individual should self-quarantine for ten days and monitor for symptoms. If they remain asymptomatic, quarantine can end after day 10 without testing but they must continue to monitor their health for symptoms. Quarantine may end after day 8 for exposed students who remain asymptomatic if a test collected after day 6 results in a negative test. Vaccinated close contacts will be notified, advised to test, but are not required to quarantine but should monitor their symptoms.
Students who are not close contacts are not required to quarantine.
Students who are required to quarantine will be given asynchronous work from their teacher(s)
At this point, it is not our plan to test asymptomatic students.
