Chargers in Action

As Christ Lutheran Chargers we are identified with Christ, both on and off the field. We start our games with prayer and play to the best of our God given abilities. We live out Christ like qualities as we interact with our teammates.

Christ Lutheran has partnered with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) to guide us as we go out into the community to compete with other schools throughout the South Bay.

Chargers enjoy many home games as we have both a soccer field and gymnasium on our campus.

Boys Soccer- Coach Tony

Hi, my name is Tony and I am excited to become Christ Lutheran’s new soccer coach! I’ve had 2 kids attending Christ Lutheran School. I played soccer my entire life starting with AYSO, and later I joined a few different club teams. I continued through high school and then a few years as an adult. One of the highlights from my childhood soccer career was winning the AYSO National Games. I started coaching when my son, was just starting to play soccer and I have continued ever since. I have coached 12 different boy’s and girl’s teams. As a coach, I have 3 top priorities: have fun, come together as a team, and improve individual skills. I believe with a focus on these 3 things a team is more likely to be successful. I get great joy out of teaching young people the game that I love and grew up playing. I am looking forward to coaching the Christ Lutheran Chargers!

Girls Volleyball - Coach Heather

Coach Heather joined the Christ Lutheran family in the fall of 2017 as a school parent, our PE Coach and Spanish Teacher. As of this month we can now add Girls Basketball Coach to the many hats she wears!  Heather shares a little of her journey with us in the month’s Messenger.

I went to elementary school at Coast Christian School in Redondo Beach with my twin sister Heidi.

We moved to Palos Verdes my Freshman year of High School where I started Basketball and played in 2 state championships. We gained full scholarships to the University of Virginia.

After graduating, I made the 1993 US Women’s National team and played in the world championships in Sao Paolo, Brazil, then went overseas professionally for 8 seasons. I played in France, Italy, Spain, Hungary, and the Euro League Championship where we travelled all over Europe. Then, over to Australia and Honduras.

In 1998 I joined the WNBA Sacramento Monarchs for 2 seasons before marrying and settling down in San Pedro with Darren. In 2001 I retired playing for the same coach I began playing for in 1993 in France.

I love the Lord, and am thankful for all He has blessed me with- a family, a husband, and 3 precious big boys!
