What's Happening Week of 10.31.16

Next week is Red Ribbon Week. At Christ Lutheran we urge our kids to say “No to Drugs,” but there is an equal emphasis on "Choosing God.”

We know that our kids will be faced with these types of decisions, so we pray that their faith is strong and that their love for the Lord will lead them to walk in obedience. At the same time, knowing that kids are exposed to troubling situations – through no fault of their own – we also pray that The Lord grants them wisdom and discernment. Our hope is that they are reminded that Jesus always forgives and is in the business of restoring lives should they find themselves in situations that cause them to stumble and fall.

This is a serious subject, and while it's fun to wear PJs to school and put together an outrageous hairdo for "crazy hair day" as part of Red Ribbon Week, we know these activities are not the things that will help keep kids off drugs. It's only through the power of the Holy Spirit and time in God's Word that we can live victoriously.
So, as you help put together these fun-themed dress days please take a moment to read through the verses that go along with each day, and spend some time talking with your children about how powerful God's Words are today and will be all throughout their lives.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 reminds us that "All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work."

In His service,

Samantha Fulton

What's Happening Week of 10.17.16

Well as you may have heard we have indeed expanded our preschool. We now have 2 preschool rooms and one Transitional Kindergarten room. It seems like we are getting new children added every week. We are so excited to be able to share Christ Lutheran's love with the additional families and their children.  We are also doing exciting things in the preschool like having our Trike-A-Thon to help St. Jude's Children's Hospital. What a great way to share the love of Jesus with other children just like the ones we have here.
We always welcome your prayers for the staff and children in the program, and if you ever want to check out the new classroom feel free to stop by.

What's Happening Week of 10.10.16

Greetings Christ Lutheran Family!
Just like any other school, Christ Lutheran is involved in several fundraisers throughout the year – all funding different areas.
The 8th grade class is working hard to fund their trip to Washington DC through monthly Kona Ice Truck sales, Cooks Night Out, Snack Shack, Friday Pizza, etc. I know you appreciate the pizza Fridays as much as I do!
The PTL partners with the school to fund events and pour back into our classrooms through Charleston Wrap and the Jog-A-Thon.
The annual Mrs. Fields Fundraiser and Annual Fund Drive support the daily operations of the school, which in-turn help keep the tuition costs down.
As we close out the Charleston Wrap Fundraiser this week, we start the Mrs. Fields & Magazine Drive Fundraiser. The kick-off is scheduled for October 18th at 2:15 PM in the gym. More details to follow.
Thank you for giving your time to these fundraising efforts. We really appreciate you!
 In Christ,
Samantha Fulton

What's Happening Week of 10.3.16

This week the Washington Post featured a story about the challenges of the college admissions process and cited a report from the Harvard Graduate School of Education that emphasizes the applicants’ kindness just as much as their achievements.  I wish the folks from Harvard could have joined us for chapel on Wednesday as we handed out the “Kindness” award.
This year our Chapel Awards are based on the Fruit of the Spirit.  Each month a student from each grade will receive an award for the fruit that we are highlighting during the month.  "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law." Galatians 5:22-23
While we are a private school with rigorous academics, what really sets us apart is that we strive to educate our students from a Biblical worldview. As a Christian community we are excited that schools like Harvard, Yale and others are now recognizing the benefits of students who seek first His Kingdom, and His righteousness, and we are pleased to be preparing future college applicants accordingly.

What's Happening Week of 9.26.16

Greetings Christ Lutheran Family-
It's been pretty busy around here!
This week we started our after-school STEM classes and Jesus and Me (JAM) Bible Study, while the Chargers are gearing up for a new season of Boys Soccer and Girls Volleyball.
On Friday the PTL kicked-off the Charleston Wrap fundraiser and our 8th graders have been fundraising for their Washington D.C. trip through after-school snacks at the snack shack, monthly Kona Ice sales, and "Cook's Night Out" at various locations.
Thank you for helping out where you can, not only with fundraising efforts, but with all the activities in the classrooms and throughout the campus. We have such a wonderful community here at Christ Lutheran. We are thankful you are here!
We would love for you to join us as we say "Thank you and Farewell" to Pastor Jake and his family. Pastor Jake has served our community for more than seven years and we are sad to see him go, but excited to see how the Lord will use him in his new role. Please come celebrate Pastor Jake and wish him well on October 2nd at 10:30 AM in the gym. Please RSVP to the church and school office. Hope to see you there!
 In Christ,

What's Happening Week of 9.19.16

Greetings Christ Lutheran Family-
It looks like we are all settling in to a nice routine.  Just a couple of reminders to keep things running smoothly before and after school.
BEFORE SCHOOL: The glass doors at church steps will not open until 8:25am each morning. If you arrive before then, students either need to go to SAC or wait in the quad with an adult. In addition, students are not permitted to go into their classrooms before 8:30am. Any student arriving unaccompanied by an adult before 8:30am will need to be checked into SAC or wait outside the gate with Mrs. Howard.
AFTER SCHOOL: Teachers will be out front with students until 3:30pm. Any students not picked up by 3:30pm will be escorted to SAC. Anyone picking up a student from SAC will need to enter at the back gate. The buzzer at the glass door is offline after 3:30pm.
Please remember: The Red Zone is for the loading and unloading of students only. Please remain in your car while stopped in the Red Zone. Thank you for your cooperation!
Thank you for partnering with us and walking out this new school year in the power we receive from the Holy Spirit! "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength." Philippians 4:13
In Christ, Samantha Fulton, Admissions and Marketing Director

What's Happening Week of 9.12.16

Hello Christ Lutheran Family-
Welcome back! We kicked-off the new year, as we always do, with an opening chapel service. We like to start everything with Christ as this is His school and we exist first and foremost to proclaim His great name! It was wonderful to meet so many new students and be reunited with old friends. We have been blessed with continued growth of our school, from the expanded preschool, to six new 8th graders and every grade in between.
You most likely felt the growing pains in the parking lot during drop off the first day. We will have staff in the parking lot before and after school each day directing traffic. You can help us with the process as we all learn the flow of the lot by making sure to park only in the appropriate spots and of course being courteous to each other. Please see the attached parking lot map/traffic flow and let us know if you have any questions. As a reminder, K-4th grade can be picked up on the church steps at 3:05pm and 5th-8th grade can be picked up at the back gate at 3:15pm. You can park and walk up or drive through the valet.
If you don't have a church home, we invite you to join us Sunday mornings for our 9:00am Worship Service and 10:30am Bible Study. Please join us this Sunday, September 11th for "Sunday School Rally Sunday" from 9:00am-1:00pm. We will kick-off a new year of Children's Ministries with fun, food and fellowship including a water slide! Our Children's Ministry opportunities are expanding. We will be adding an after school Bible Study for 1st-5th grade and will continue meeting on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Thursday morning each month for "Little Lambs." This is a special time for children under 3 to come with parents, grandparents or caregivers for time in God's Word and mommy and me type activities. Please contact our Children's Ministry Director, Miss Jamie for more details.
PTL is back in action! All are welcome to attend the first Country Fair planning meeting on Monday, September 12th at 8:45am. The monthly PTL meetings will start back up on Thursday, September 15th at 8:50am. Starting in October the PTL will meet the first Thursday morning of each month. This is a great opportunity to get involved and sign-up for different events throughout the year.
Prime Academy will be on campus during lunch next week for a demonstration of their STEM and Robotics classes. They will begin taking registration on Monday, September 12th with after-school classes starting the week of September 20th. Classes will be offered from 3:30pm-4:30pm once a week, with the K-4th graders meeting on Tuesdays and 5th-8th graders on Wednesdays. Please be on the look-out for flyers going home on Friday with more details.
We look forward to all the Lord has for us this year as we learn and grow together!
In Christ, Samantha Fulton
