Meet our new PE Coach and Spanish Teacher!

We are pleased to announce that basketball superstar Heather (Burge) Quella will be joining us in September as our new Physical Education coach and Spanish teacher. One quick Google search will reveal that Mrs. Quella is more than qualified to instruct our 1st- 8th grade students in physical education classes as well as guide our middle school students in weekly Spanish lessons.

A lifelong Southern California resident, Mrs. Quella attended Palos Verdes High School with her twin sister Heidi, and after leading the Sea Kings to a championship, the sisters accepted scholarships to the University of Virginia. While attending UVA, Mrs. Quella majored in both Spanish and Drama while leading the Cavaliers to three Atlantic Coast Conference championships in four years.
Mrs. Quella played basketball on the 1993 USA National Team and professionally for six years overseas. Following her time overseas, Mrs. Quella accepted an offer to play for the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) for the Sacramento Monarchs in 1999.

At the conclusion of her basketball career, Mrs. Quella taught 8th grade Spanish at Miraleste Intermediate School in Palos Verdes while completing her master's degree in Multi-Lingual Education.

Mrs. Quella and her sister have long since inspired young athletes who have enjoyed “Double Teamed,” a Disney movie based on their lives.

Please join us in welcoming Heather, her husband Darren and their three sons to the Christ Lutheran Family!
