Return to Campus Update- October 2, 2020

Latest Update from Principal Ferguson
October 2, 2020
I wanted to take the opportunity to say thank you for partnering with us in the proclamation of the Gospel to young people. These past few weeks have been challenging for teachers and families alike, but everyone has demonstrated an incredible amount of grace and patience.

In recognition of the challenges of online learning, we are going to have a student free day on Friday, October 16th. Take this morning to spend time catching up on whatever, without having to worry about logging in to online learning for the day. Our weekly Friday Nights on the Field will still be happening that night and we invite you to join us on the back field starting at 6pm.

In addition to our normal Friday Night on the Field on October 16th, we will be having a specials Dad's Club Work Party that night. We are working to set up our classrooms so students can be safely socially distanced for when we are allowed to have them back on campus again and we need to remove some desks and tables from classrooms and put them into a storage container. We welcome any, and all, help with this project. The more people we have to help, the quicker it will go.

You may have heard over the past few days that the LA County Board of Supervisors voted to open up the waiver program in early October. We have been keeping up with the details of this program and I wanted to give you an update. The waiver would allow for in person instruction for our youngest learners in K-2nd grade. The requirements for the waiver, and the waiver application, will be published on Monday and the health department said it will take two weeks to process the applications before they start handing out waivers. The Board of Supervisors limited the number of waivers to thirty per week and priority will be given to schools that serve the most vulnerable students. We will be putting together our application on Monday and will follow up with the health department on its status.

I also wanted to invite you to worship with us at Christ Lutheran on Sunday mornings! We have outdoor services every Sunday at 9am on our back field and all are welcome. You can also watch live through Facebook Live at and watch later through our Youtube page at

Thank you to those that have reached out to me with your joys and challenges with online learning. I appreciate your feedback on how this journey is going.

In His Service,
Mr. Ferguson
